Preparing snacks at any time is a challenging job. If you are a busy person then finding a good snack is always challenging. In this post, we will tell you about the super delicious, mouthwatering Bengali Snacks called কলাই ডালের বড়া or Lentil Fritters.


Kolai Daler Bora / Biuli Daler Bora / Urad Dal Vada Recipe



Let me clear first, if you are a fitness freak or in a super diet plan then you should avoid this deep fried Bora. It is served with hot tea/coffee. I always eat 8-10 Bora in a rainy season with a cup of hot tea. Most importantly the recipe is made for vegetarians.


Coming to the Bodas/Boras/Vadas, it always need some time for the preparation.


Ingredients


  • 1/2 cup lentils (Urad Dal/Kolai Dal/ Biuli Dal) soaked for a couple of hours
  • 1 small 1/2inch of ginger
  • 3 green chilles(can be changed)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • Pinch of Black cumin(Kala Jeera/Kalo Jire)O
  • Oil for frying


Instructions


  • Place the soaked lentils, ginger, green chilies, turmeric and salt with 2 tablespoons water in a blender. Blend to a fine paste

Urad Dal/Kolai Dal/ Biuli Dal Paste

  • Mix Black Cumin
  • Place 1/2 cup oil in a small wok /Kadai and heated up until smoking.
  • Drop the batter in small spoonfuls and fry on medium low heat until it becomes golden. It will take about 3 to 4 minutes.

Kolai Daler Bora bhaja

Serve hot with some chutneys/ Ketchups or simply with tea/coffee.
